Smart lights are a wonderful way to illuminate your home while being able to control the lighting from anywhere. You no longer need to worry about lights being left on when you’re not at home, walking into a dark house or creating the wrong ambience. Unfortunately, you may encounter issues with your smart lighting system from time to time. We’ll help you troubleshoot common problems and get your smart lighting system functioning properly once again.

Your Smart Lights Won’t Respond

First, check your power source. Make sure the light bulbs are screwed in properly in order to make a connection with the socket and that the power is switched on. You can also simply try turning the lights on and off. This is often all that’s needed to reset the connection. Finally, make sure you’re aware of any updates to your smart lights app.

You Have Connection Problems

Check to make sure that your Wi-Fi network is working, and your smart lights are within its range. If everything is OK, reset the smart lights by following the manufacturer’s instructions. This typically requires you to turn the lights on and off a certain number of times.

You can also check your router. Ensure that nothing is blocking it, and you don’t have too many devices connected, which will limit the bandwidth.

Your Lights Are Flickering

If your lights are flickering, make sure you’re using the right type of bulb for your home’s dimmer switches. Not all light bulbs and dimmers are compatible. If you have an older, traditional dimmer switch, you may need to replace it with one made specifically for smart bulbs. If you already have smart bulbs, you can update their firmware through the manufacturer’s app.

You Have Color Problems

If the color seems off, use your app to recalibrate your smart bulb’s settings. If you suspect a software glitch, update or reset the bulb through the app. When nothing else works, you can do a factory reset, which usually resolves most color issues.

You Have Issues With Pairing the App

Always check your smartphone’s Bluetooth and your Wi-Fi to ensure everything is turned on and working properly. If everything is functioning, but the lights aren’t responding, you can try reinstalling the app. This often fixes any pairing issues. Also, confirm that your phone’s operating system is updated.
